Cory is a Whakairo (traditional Maori carver) and Whakairo tutor based in Auckland. He has ties to the far north (Ngapuhi) and central north Island(Tainui/ Ngati Maniapoto).
His artistic journey began with simple line drawings inspired by his environment. The simple pleasure of replicating objects around him ignited his passion and planted the seeds for his future.
His creativity is sparked by those that think outside the square, regardless of the parameters they are usually bound by. From initial concept , Cory is focused on communicating his message clearly, while pushing his creative boundaries and maintaining a level of personal satisfaction.
Cory’s artwork is a vehicle to impart knowledge, document his journey and help him experience other countries and cultures.
